The third regatta of the RC 44 Championship Tour 2010 will take place next week in Copenhagen (Denmark). The top of the annual leader board is as hot as ever, with the leading teams only separated by a few points. Just back from the ACC event in Maddalena, many sailors & teams will be on top form. His Royal Highness Crown Prince Frederik will sail with James Spithill onboard “17”, and steer the boat during the fleet regatta.

It didn’t go Team Aqua’s way today in the tricky conditions encountered on Lake Traunsee. BMW ORACLE Racing won the race ahead of RC 44 Challenge whilst Team Aqua finished ninth from the fleet race and sixth overall.

“I was asleep during the first race; we got stuck in a tree in the second, took a premature start in the third and started sailing decently in the last race. This summarises our day pretty well”, explains Chris.

Recalled at the start, team Aqua made a good come back and finished fifth of the leisurely long distance regatta. Igor Lah and his team onboard Ceeref managed the course perfectly and won the race ahead of Pieter Heerema’s No Way Back and Larry Ellison’s BMW ORACLE Racing.

Russell Coutts and Larry Ellison’s team just made it against Cameron Appleton’s Team Aqua. Both teams won seven races out of nine; however the American team won the direct confrontation. Paul Cayard and his team Katusha finish third.
